Is there such a thing as finding "The One"???

I've heard pretty much every story you can imagine over the years of how couples get together. What's interesting is that many couples who come in for therapy and are at the 'end of their ropes' actually had a deep knowing when they first met, believing this person was "The One." And then there are other couples who never describe having that initial feeling, yet wind up with a very happy and deeply connected long-term relationship.

I'm a big believer that significant intimate relationships are more than just "chance" for partners finding each other. I personally believe there's a spiritual component to it, perhaps some may call it "destiny," where two souls are "directed" to find each other at a very specific point in time, tho not necessarily designed to last the rest of their lives. I believe that intimate relationships are designed to fall into various categories, such as meeting for a REASON, SEASON, or sometimes a LIFETIME...

Any of those possibilities hold tremendous purpose in helping a soul grow and evolve. Sometimes, romantic souls may find each other after having known the other from a previous lifetime and the connection is indescribably strong. Sometimes we hold strong connections to partners and knew them from a different configuration in previous lifetime(s) (e.g., mother-daughter, sister-brother, father-son, etc). Those strong connections are often indicators that this person holds the ability to serve as a catalyst for significant healing and transformation. The key is learning to EMBRACE whatever the partner is triggering inside, seeing it as a gift from the universe to help your soul catapult in growth.

Whether you have some romantic story of getting together and finding each other or one of just hooking up after meeting at a bar, the point is that if you're in a significant long-term relationship with a person, there is soul-growth ready to be had! It is incredibly powerful to pivot from a blame position and begin to look with curiosity at how this partner triggers certain parts inside that no one else ever  does. That is your gift for growth, if you're able to view it as a learning opportunity instead of stewing in resentment. The choice is yours...to stew or grow???
